About Us

Mark Garry

The Director of Pacific Coast Kayaks and Operations Manager is Mark Garry. He is a qualified sea kayaking guide with over 30 years experience in a number of disciplines: white water, canoe surfing, canoe polo and sea kayaking. He has come to sea kayaking from a whitewater background in Australia and NZ. He played canoe polo in Adelaide and in Northland and enjoys surf kayaking and board surfing. He has also sailed and dived extensively along the Northland coast and has deep knowledge of local weather conditions and topography.

Mark is a member of the Kayak Fishing Club and The Northland Canoe Club.

Mark is a registered teacher and outdoor educator. He was trained in New Zealand and has taught in Australia and New Zealand. During this time Mark graduated with a Diploma in Outdoor Education with a focus on Environmental Education and Natural History. Mark's tours incorporate historical and wildlife information. Observing bird-life becomes a part of most tours.

Pacific Coast Kayaks employs other assistant guides and experienced personnel for larger groups. All of our guides offer a safe and fun experience.
