Bay of Islands - Cape Brett Expedition

Deep Water Cove

Deep Water Cove

The Bay of Islands is one of New Zealand's most popular regions. From Rawhiti, Urupukapuka Island, Deep Water Cove to the 'Hole in the Rock' (Percy Island) we experience some of Northland's finest scenery. Travel by sea kayak offers you the most adventurous and least intrusive way to enjoy the marine life.

These 3 or 4 day tours are designed to take in the best the Bay has to offer, concentrating on the array of outer islands, and rugged Cape Brett peninsula to the south. Here the beaches are exceptional, and there are many short walks, historic areas, and heritage sites to visit.

In good weather conditions we can explore Deep water Cove and the rugged Cape Brett peninsula. There are more sea caves, schools of fish and active bird life. Dolphin and shark sightings are a possibility.

This tour is perfect for all levels of kayaking experience, as we are able to choose a variety of routes, ranging from the exposed outer coast to the sheltered side of each island, and everywhere in between. We offer many opportunities for other activities, and optional side trips for those wanting to paddle some more, making for a guaranteed great trip for all groups. The main base for this expedition is Urupukapuka Island DOC Camping Ground.
